Jane Digby's Last Soiree
Jane Elizabeth Digby, also known as Jenny, lived her life as an aristocrat after her father Admiral Henry Digby set a wealthy family fortune when he took on prize money from a seizure of the Santa Brigada treasure ship in 1799. Here, in about 1825 we find Jane preparing for attendance at a grand Soirée with her first husband Edward Law, 1st Earl of Ellenborough. Unfortunately that evening set her demise of a promiscuous lifestyle that resulted in a life of discontent. She died of fever and dysentery in Damascus on August 11, 1881.
